The Center for Excellence

As a result of a Statewide bidding process, the Arizona Department of Behavioral Health Services (DBHS) and ValueOptions awarded Community Brides multi year funding to develop a first of its kind Center for Excellence Methamphetamine Treatment Program for Maricopa County in November, 2005.

The Center of Excellence is a collaborative interdisciplinary coordinated effort between Community Bridges, the Maricopa County Drug Court, and the Maricopa County Probation Department to provide Methamphetamine Specific Treatment utilizing a unique therapeutic treatment model developed by the Los Angeles based Matrix Institute.  The Matrix Model consists of a minimum of:

  • Social Support Group (36-Sessions)
  • Relapse Prevention Group (32-Sessions)
  • Family Education Group (12-Sessions)
  • Early Recovery Skills Group (8-Sessions)
  • Individual/Conjoint Family Sessions (3-Sessions)

Participation in the program can last up to 12 months based upon the intensity of services required to meet the individual’s needs in conjunction with determinations made by the treatment team.

The Contingency Management Modality (positive reward for positive actions) used in the program, provides varying levels of rewards for group attendance and provides negative results if urinalysis tests are returned positive.

Although this program is currently only open to participants in the Maricopa County Drug Court, similar programs are being developed by Community Bridges for implementation at both the East Valley OSC, as well as our Steele Commons locations and are scheduled to begin in mid-November, 2006.
